by McCauley Key, Local Preachers Secretary
Our local preachers have been called to share the word of God. This requires a lot of discernment. Preaching requires speaking hard truths, but it also requires listening to the world and the context in which they find themselves.
2 Timothy 4:2 ESV
Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching.
Preaching has changed over the years, especially since the time of John Wesley, but what hasn't changed is the need to hear and speak the word of God. Our language may have changed, but God has remained the same. He is forever faithful, ready to work in each and every one of us, shaping his new creation, and transforming us with the values of the Kingdom.
The Local Preachers course (Worship, Leading & Preaching) has been designed to take those, who feel called by God, on this journey.
If you feel a call to preach, take some time to discern this calling, and when you feel ready, please speak to either myself, or your local presbyter/ lay pastor.
