RE Team Blog – 3 – May 2024

In keeping with the theme of my last blog post, I have kept you all waiting! I would love to say that this is deliberate to further illustrate my point of the usefulness of waiting, but the truth is March and April were such busy months, I simply forgot! I hope you will forgive my forgetfulness and enjoy this month's installation.
Easter Outreach into schools went brilliantly. It was wonderful to have classes from 3 different schools visit their local churches for workshops around the Easter message and to discover more about Jesus' sacrifice and resurrection. I also delivered 6 Easter assemblies exploring the message of love and how Jesus showed us how to love through his death- based on 1 John 3:16. It is a joy to be able to go into schools and sow these first seeds of faith in children.
Lessons, Open the book and Prayer spaces continue to go well. Prayer spaces can be difficult though, I sometimes find myself having to cancel a session due to other commitments in other schools. It would be great to be able to build a team around prayer space and have a couple of other people who can cover the lunchtime drop in session at Sunnyfields school if I'm needed in another school for an assembly or lesson. If you feel you could offer some time to this or would like more information please get in touch.
I've recently connected with the Childrens and Families worker from St Peters in Bentley and look forward to further working with the team at St Peters on our joint mission.
We are rapidly approaching the 10 year celebration service for R.E. team Doncaster and i look forward to celebrating this wonderful milestone with you all. Please could i ask, if you have any photographs of schools work that has been done under the "R.E. team" umbrella of the last 10 years could you send them to re.team.doncaster@outlook.com to be included in a display. Could i also ask if you are planning to come to the service on 2nd June, please let me know asap so that I know numbers for catering. Thank you!
I shall finish this months post with a prayer for our schools from Prayer spaces in schools, perhaps as you pray this you could think of your local school.
"Loving father, thank you for all who are part of our school. Please grant them your encouragement, wisdom and peace. Strengthen teachers with heavy workloads. May they be firm yet patient, expecting excellence but forgiving mistakes. May they support their students, playing to strengths, helping with struggles and motivating them to do their best. Comfort and restore those living under the shadows of unhappiness, abuse, pain or fear. May many find faith, discovering their identity in you and knowing your amazing grace in their lives. Please pour out your blessing upon our whole school community.
