Our former Pastor, Alice, encouraged and helped us to hold our first Christmas Tree Festival in 2019. Of course we were unable to repeat the event for the next 2 years because of COVID, but we returned in 2022 vowing to make it an annual event.
We ask local businesses, schools, those groups who use our hall and of course the congregation to sponsor or decorate a tree.
Although there isn't a photo here, we leave one tree undecorated with a notice which reads -
OUR WORK WITH THE HOMELESS & FOODBANK. FOR SOME PEOPLE CHRISTMAS WILL NOT MEAN PRESENTS, FAMILY & GOOD FOOD, SO FOR THIS REASON WE HAVE LEFT THIS TREE BARE.
During the week local schools are welcomed in to decorate their trees with lovely handmade decorations and afterwards to stay for a while. This year we decided to open from Thursday to Saturday and to leave the trees in place for the whole Christmas period. After visitors had enjoyed their tour of the trees in Church we invited them to come into the hall to sit and have a cuppa, a piece of cake and a chat. It was lovely that many of our friends from the Circuit were able to join us.
We are grateful to Sean, our Pastor, who although unwell, came every day during the festival to help us. Thank you Sean. The Christmas Tree Festival has been an opportunity for the whole congregation to be involved and work together which has proved to be a wonderful blessing to our fellowship.
