The Shoebox Appeal – Operation Christmas Child

Each year, churches around the Doncaster Methodist Circuit work hard to fill shoeboxes for the national appeal. This year three of our churches have collectively provided well over 300 shoeboxes. The shoeboxes are filled with presents and practical items to be given to children all over the world who would not, for many reasons, receive a gift at Christmas.

The Doncaster Methodist Circuit churches support the Samaritan's Purse – International Relief charity, which distributes the filled shoeboxes to countries in Africa, Eastern Europe and Central Asia. The shoeboxes are blessed before they are delivered to a central location in the city for onward travel to their destinations across the world.

Samaritan's Purse say "The mission of Operation Christmas Child is to show God's love in a tangible way to children in need around the world, and together with the local church worldwide, to share the Good News of Jesus Christ.
Since 1993, more than 209 million children in over 170 countries have experienced God's love through the power of simple shoebox gifts from Operation Christmas Child."

The Circuit wishes to thank everyone who donated items and filled shoeboxes and a Hugethank you to all those involved for your hard work in encouraging people to donate, collecting and preparing the shoeboxes.

Well done!
