Thorne Methodist Church held their first Christmas Fayre for some years this year! On entering the Church grounds, Father Christmas was there to greet you with a table of goodies to look through for Christmas present inspiration.
Once at the hall at the back, a room of supervised activities had been set aside for visiting children to allow their parents/grandparents/guardians to enjoy a browse around the many stalls in peace. There were Bring and Buy stalls, Book and Jigsaw stalls, Clothing and Handbag stalls, Handcrafted jewellery stall, Cake Stall, Bric-a-Brac stalls and others.
The hardworking elves in the kitchen were serving drinks with homemade cakes and mince pies, soup was on offer and bacon butties.
It was a wonderful Christmas Fayre, very busy and raising funds for church.
On speaking to a couple of Thorne Methodist Church members – the best thing about the day was how this Fayre had been a church member's idea – not church council – inspired by something they had heard and that it brought the whole church together to work as a family. This event brought joy to so many people and brought the church congregation closer together.
Happy Christmas.
